Our golf instructional offerings are some of the best around with Top 100 Instructor Jonathan Yarwood and PGA Teaching Professional, Joe Galan available to fix your swing. To go along with private instruction, we have several clinics scheduled throughout the season. Our PGA Professionals are dedicated to offering the best golf instruction available. They’re expert eye and knowledge can help you reach your highest of potential on the course.

Meet the Pros

John Mascari, Director of Golf

John Mascari joined Alpine Country Club as Director of Golf in 2018. He is a widely accomplished, innovative, and award-winning PGA Professional, with extensive and diverse knowledge in all facets of the golf operation. He focuses daily on providing excellent customer service, professionally run events, and a stellar golf experience to the members and guests. To go along with his work at Alpine, John serves on the New Jersey PGA Board of Directors and has been a champion of growing the game in New Jersey for those of all backgrounds, including The Newark Boys and Girls Club golf program, and the Father English Community Center. He has been named one of the Top 50 Junior Golf Instructors in America three times, has one of a few PGA Professionals to have attained Certified Professional status in Golf Operations and General Management with the PGA. He volunteers his time on numerous committees and advisory boards including the Callaway Golf Senior Advisory Council, Golf Business Network, and GFore. He is active in the national golf media industry and currently co-hosts a weekly golf talk show on ESPN Radio called “On The Tee”. Although a native New Yorker, John lives in Glen Ridge, New Jersey with his wife and their two children.




 
Jonathan Yarwood, Director of Instruction

Jonathan Yarwood is a Top 100 Teacher in the USA and has been voted by an independent panel the #1 teacher in New Jersey by Golf Digest magazine. He is incredibly proud to be the Director of Instruction at Alpine Country Club. He enjoys helping all standards of players improve and enjoy the game more through simple but fact and evidence-based solutions. Each person is different, and one size does not fit all. He finds simple solutions through the latest technology but delivers it with an artistic and simplistic approach. Join him for a social group clinic or a one-to-one private lesson, you will definitely improve your game and get more out of your membership. 

                                                                                    




Joe Galan, PGA Professional

Joe Galan joined Alpine Country Club as PGA Professional in 2016. Joe earned his Class “A” membership in the PGA of America in 2001 and since has held numerous leadership positions at various clubs in Georgia, the Dominican Republic and New Jersey. He is also involved in the golf community, the New Jersey PGA’s Board of Directors and involved in fundraising for the New Jersey Golf Foundation by playing golf marathons.

Joe's passion lies in helping others enjoy the game of golf and works hard to make sure his students are able to maximize their abilities. Joe approaches the student teacher relationship more as a coach than just a one time, one hour lesson. He's committed to follow through and check-in with his student's ongoing performance as he shares in the interest of improvement. He uses his on-course experiences, knowledge of the game, current technology and excellent communication skills to help players of all skill levels.




 
Karen Cash, Associate Professional

Karen joined Alpine in 2023. She is a former Division I golfer at Rutgers University where she was named captain her senior year. She was a four-year varsity letterwinner at Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale, NJ in both tennis and golf. Her most memorable achievements during her competitive golf career were being named to the Bergen Record All-Decade Girl's Golf Team, as well as qualifying and competing in the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. Prior to transferring to Rutgers, she was named the PSAC Golf of the Year as a freshman, after claiming multiple medalist honors at ESU in Pennsylvania.
