About Us
In 1928, at the behest of a group of civil leaders called “The Forty Millionaires”, A.W. Tillinghast designed and built the ‘Aldecress’ golf course on the site that is now Alpine Country Club. The original name was derived from the three towns to which the course is connected: Alpine, Demarest and Cresskill. This course turned out to be the most challenging for Tillilnghast to build. Located on the Jersey Palisades, rock formations required blasting in order to shape the course to his perfection. In 1960, the course was sold to the membership and the name was changed.
Alpine Country Club, situated on 196 gloriously verdant acres in Northern Bergen County, is an exclusive private, member-owned club. We are a full-service, family oriented Club which offers its members and guests a magnificent Championship 18 hole golf course designed by A.W. Tillinghast, five Har-Tru tennis courts, a resort-style Pool area with adult and kiddie pools, children’s playground and half basketball court. Our newly constructed Clubhouse, opened in 2008, boasts world-class amenities, including several gracious dining options -- both indoor and outdoor -- elegant, state of the art locker rooms, a children’s playroom, and a well-equipped fitness facility. Our Golfhouse, which overlooks the golf course and is also newly renovated, features the Pro Shop, additional locker rooms, as well as the Golfhouse Grille and Patio.
In 2009, Alpine was awarded Platinum Club of America, which is an award given to the top 100 Clubs out of 3,000 surveyed in the United States. This award is given by Club Leaders Forum every three years.
Our objective is to provide our membership and their guests with exceptional services and a memorable experience.
